The internet cannot be truly censored
Today it happened, I am not shocked, nor am I surprised, I knew full well this was coming, which is exactly why I built my own blog server.
Medium.com suspended my account. I knew this was coming, medium.com took down a few of my links citing a breach of their rules, and I reposted them, which makes me a recidivist rule breaker. As such, I expected I would become suspended at some point, and that point appears to be today. Comcare is upset with some of my posts, and thanks to 'the twitter files', we know that the Australian Government has a team of people who "refer content for policy violations" onto social media platforms. What this means is that platforms such as medium.com roll over and comply with government take down requests. We must be honest with ourselves and call these "referrals" what they are, take down requests. The government doesn't "refer" things that it wants to keep on the internet...
Organisations such as medium.com who roll over and give in to the government upon request, are a genuine threat to freedom of speech, and therefore society as a whole.
Luckily, the internet provides us with all the tools to arm ourselves against this, what I call, governance extremism. The government wants to control everything we say and do, and so it is our obligation to fight back against this.
I asked Bing AI image creator to make me an image to mark this occasion, this is what it produced!
